Baby Makaton
A six week course. Learn how to support and improve your child’s communication skills using signs and symbols. Sessions include singing, talking and rhymes. Suitable for children 6 months to 3 years.
Baby Massage
A four-week course for mams, dads and carers with babies aged 6 weeks to 6 months. Learn how to massage your baby to help calm and relax them, bringing you closer together. To book please contact your local Children’s Centre.
Bookworms
Suitable for children birth to 5 years. Come along and share stories and related activities in a fun and friendly environment.
Dads and Kids
A drop-in session for dads, granddads and male carers. Spend time with your children, enjoy games, arts and crafts, outdoor fun and learn about various health topics.
Fun on Fridays
This fun family session focuses on activities such as den making, cookery, arts and crafts, story sacks and rhymes. In Washington this session runs for six weeks.
PlaySpace
PlaySpace is a space within many Children’s Centres where you can meet other families, and your children can play together and make friends. The space is free to use and some toy equipment will be available. The activity will not be staffed. Parents are responsible for ensuring the space is left tidy after use.
Rhyme Time
Families can enjoy a variety of physical activities such as singing and dancing. Watch your child’s confidence grow as they learn to balance and move from crawling to walking.
Saturday Play
A fun way to spend a Saturday morning. Come along and enjoy a range of play activities including messy play, singing and dancing and outdoor play.
Sensory Play
Children can use the sensory play facilities to learn through touch, sight, hearing and smell. Great for babies and children with additional needs to stimulate and enhance their development.
Stay and Play
Ten weeks of free activities including messy play, singing and dancing, and the chance for your child to make friends. Watch your child's talking and imagination develop. Activities change each week.
Note: We advise all parents/carers to ensure that their children wear clothing and shoes that can be stained without concern. Sunderland Children Centres will not be held responsible for any damage or stains to clothing.
Time for Rhyme
Ten weeks of free activities, including nursery rhymes, movement and dance, helping your child's confidence and speech to grow.
