About Children's Centres

There are 17 Children's Centres now open in Sunderland - all exciting places for you and your children to visit on a regular basis. Your child can make friends and learn as they play, whilst you can get professional advice on health, family matters and learn about training and job opportunities. You can also meet other parents, carers, grandparents and childminders in a safe and relaxed environment.

The centres provide:-

• play and learn activities for you and your child to enjoy together
• the chance to meet other parents
• family learning courses to develop skills and prepare parents and carers for work
• child and family health services, including advice on healthy eating, giving up smoking, breastfeeding groups and specialist health services for children
• affordable childcare from 8am to 6pm
• volunteering opportunities and many more activities and services
